Your Trusted Dental Care Provider in Huntington Beach Since 1971
Finding a trusted dentist in Santa Ana can make dental visits feel less stressful, especially when you know you’re in caring hands at HB Dental Studio. Our dentists have spent over 50 years proving that dental care doesn’t have to feel stressful or intimidating. Since 1971, we’ve been serving families with a full scope of services, including routine dental cleanings, dental exams, oral surgery, and cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening, all conveniently located in one practice. Our team is made up of four experienced professionals who share one goal: to give you the kind of patient care that keeps you coming back, not because you have to, but because you trust us with your smile.
Our Mission
Our dentists believe that good oral health is built on trust, and trust is built over time. That’s why we focus on getting to know you as a person first, not just as a patient. We take time to understand your dental history, your concerns, and what you actually want from your care before recommending any dental procedures.
Using advanced dental technologies alongside a genuinely educational approach, we walk you through your options in plain language so you can make confident, informed decisions. Our goal is the same at every visit: to make sure you leave feeling better than when you walked in, both physically and emotionally.
Why Choose Us
Our team takes pride in the experience we deliver every single visit. Here’s how we provide exceptional care.
Melvin Cohen, Kenneth Barrett, Victoria Kha, and Carlisle Salcedo DDS Offer Consultations to Patients Who are Looking for Implants, Crowns, or Who have Progressive Periodontal Disease

Meet the Team
Our team holds credentials that go well beyond general dentistry. With academic backgrounds spanning neuroscience, integrative biology, oral pathology, and dental hygiene, our four dentists bring a level of depth to patient evaluations that directly shapes the quality of care you receive. One of our senior dentists has served as a faculty member at USC and consults as a forensic dental expert, while our associate dentists hold dual degrees that reflect a commitment to understanding the full picture of human health, not just oral health. That breadth of knowledge is applied to every appointment, routine or complex. Our practice serves patients in both English and Spanish, ensuring that clear communication is never a barrier to great care.

Dr. Melvin Cohen
Dr. Cohen’s goal as a dentist and health care provider is to prevent disease. “The mouth is subject to physical stress, bacterial stress, stress from aging and attrition, and stress from numerous general health issues and the side effects of medication.

Dr. Kenneth Barrett
Dr. Barrett grew up in Whittier California and attended La Serna High School. He continued his education and received his bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. From there he earned his degree in dentistry from USC.

Dr. Carlisle Salcedo
Meet Dr. Carlisle Salcedo, DDS—a general dentist who believes that a visit to the dentist can (and should!) be comfortable, calm, and even enjoyable. A UC Berkeley graduate with a double major in Psychology and Integrative Biology, Dr. Salcedo combines his science background with his love of people to create a patient experience that’s as stress-free as possible—even for the most anxious patients.

Dr. Victoria Kha
Meet Dr. Victoria Kha, DDS, a Southern California native and general dentist who loves caring for patients from toddlers to seniors. She believes the best dentistry happens when she really gets to know each patient—their lifestyle, comfort level, and goals—so every treatment plan is personalized, practical, and designed with you in mind.
Cosmetic and Restorative
Small changes to your smile can have a big impact on how you feel day to day. We offer a full range of cosmetic and restorative dentistry treatments designed to address everything from minor chips and stains to teeth that need structural rebuilding. Our team listens carefully to your concerns and builds a plan that aligns with your goals.
Our dentist takes a calm, thorough approach to every consultation, making sure you understand your options before any treatment begins. At HB Dental Studio, we use advanced dental technology to plan and deliver results that look natural and feel comfortable. We are committed to making every step of your care feel manageable and rewarding.
Invisalign
Misaligned teeth can affect your confidence, your bite, and even your ability to keep your teeth clean over time. Invisalign offers a modern, low-profile solution that straightens teeth using a series of clear, custom-fitted aligners worn throughout the day. The trays are removable, comfortable, and designed to fit naturally into your lifestyle.
Our dentist uses advanced 3D imaging to create a precise treatment plan tailored to your specific alignment needs. At HB Dental Studio, we walk you through your projected results before treatment begins so there are no surprises along the way. Our team stays closely involved throughout your Invisalign journey to ensure steady, comfortable progress.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are a trusted solution for patients who want to make a lasting change to the overall look of their smile. Each veneer is individually crafted to cover the front surface of a tooth, correcting color, shape, size, or surface texture in a single treatment. The final result is a smile that looks refined, healthy, and completely natural.
At HB Dental Studio, our dentist takes a detailed, patient-centered approach to veneer design, starting with a thorough consultation to understand your vision. We work with a professional dental lab to ensure each shell is crafted to your exact specifications. Our team makes sure the process feels manageable and that you love your results.
Crowns
Protecting a damaged tooth early can make all the difference in preserving your long-term oral health. Dental crowns are a trusted restorative option that fully encases a weakened or broken tooth, restoring its original shape and preventing further damage. They are built to withstand everyday use while blending seamlessly with your natural smile.
Our dentist takes precise digital measurements to design a crown that fits accurately and looks completely natural. At HB Dental Studio, we use premium materials selected for both durability and aesthetic quality. We take the time to walk you through the process so you feel calm and well-prepared at every appointment.
Whitening
Stained or discolored teeth are one of the most common dental concerns we see, and also one of the most treatable. Professional whitening goes beyond surface cleaning to lift deep stains from within the enamel, delivering a level of brightness that at-home products rarely achieve. Our treatments are designed to be effective while keeping your comfort a top priority.
Our dentist assesses your smile and helps you decide between an in-office whitening session or a custom take-home tray kit based on your goals and schedule. At HB Dental Studio, we use professional-grade whitening agents that are carefully applied for consistent, even results. We make sure the process is comfortable from start to finish and that you leave feeling great about your smile.
Dental Exams and Cleaning
Good oral health is built through consistent, quality preventive care. Our dental exams and cleaning appointments are structured to give you a thorough assessment and a professional cleaning that keeps your smile in its best condition. We focus not just on treating issues, but on helping you understand how to maintain your health between visits.
Our dentist reviews your X-rays and performs a comprehensive exam to check for early signs of decay, gum disease, or other concerns. At HB Dental Studio, our hygienists use gentle, effective techniques to remove buildup and leave your teeth feeling fresh and clean. We believe every visit is a chance to strengthen your long-term oral health with knowledge and care.

FAQs
How does teeth grinding affect your long-term oral health?
Chronic teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, puts significant pressure on your teeth, jaw muscles, and joints over time. Left unaddressed, it can lead to worn enamel, increased tooth sensitivity, cracked teeth, and persistent jaw pain that affects your daily comfort. Our dentist can identify the early signs of grinding during a routine exam and recommend a custom solution, such as a night guard, to protect your teeth before the damage compounds.
Can a dentist help with jaw pain and discomfort?
Jaw pain is often connected to teeth grinding, bite misalignment, or tension in the jaw joint, all of which a dentist is trained to identify and address. Left untreated, these issues can lead to worn enamel, headaches, and increased tooth sensitivity over time. A thorough dental exam is a good first step toward understanding what’s causing your discomfort and what options are available.
How does aging affect your oral health?
As you get older, your teeth and gums go through natural changes that require adjusted care and closer monitoring. Enamel wears down over time, gum tissue can recede, and certain medications common in older adults can contribute to dry mouth, which increases the risk of decay. Staying consistent with dental visits becomes especially important as you age to stay ahead of these shifts.
How do you know when a tooth needs to be extracted?
Not every damaged or painful tooth requires extraction, and saving a natural tooth is always our first priority. Treatments like root canal therapy, crowns, or other restorative options can often preserve a tooth that might otherwise seem beyond repair. However, when severe decay, infection, overcrowding, or significant structural damage make saving the tooth no longer viable, extraction becomes the most practical and health-conscious path forward.
How do I prepare my child for their first dental visit?
Talking to your child about what to expect beforehand goes a long way in reducing first-visit nerves. Keep the conversation simple and positive, focusing on the fact that the dentist is there to help keep their teeth healthy and strong. Our team is experienced with younger patients and takes extra care to make the experience calm, age-appropriate, and even enjoyable.
